Meet Steve Lowry, Founding Executive Director of AInBC and our AI & Strategy Advisor!

We are delighted to officially introduce Steve Lowry as our AI & Strategy Advisor at Transformers Academy.

Steve Lowry is a high-growth company executive and startup expert who envisions new technologies, media properties and brands and then assembles strong teams to bring ideas to market.

With a background as a lawyer and an investment banker, Steve set out to change how media was consumed, co-founding Play Taxi Media and bringing digital screens to taxicabs across Canada. He founded the world’s first all-media ad exchange that combined traditional media with digital.

Having built three startups and supported leadership teams at companies like Clio - Cloud-Based Legal Technology and Hootsuite Steve is enthusiastic about the entrepreneurial journey.

He holds a BA from The University of British Columbia a law degree from Dalhousie University un and an MBA from the UBC Sauder School of Business.

He heads the Artificial Intelligence network of British Columbia (AInBC), which was established to unify, organize and catalyze the artificial intelligence and machine learning communities in BC.

Steve is a founding member and strategic advisor to the Frontier Collective.

Slava is an experienced technology leader with over 15 years in the tech industry, including a strong track record in both Web2 and Web3 startups. Throughout his career, he has led diverse engineering teams, scaled products from idea to delivery, and built efficient, remote-first development cultures.

As CTO of Bonzai AI, Slava brings a balanced blend of strategic thinking, hands-on leadership, and a deep understanding of how to grow strong, agile teams. He is passionate about creating environments where engineers thrive and innovative ideas become reality.

Slava has a proven ability to align technology with business goals and is committed to building solutions that deliver real value to users and partners.

Jon has over thirty years’ experience of working with both start-up and internationally established Food & Beverage businesses at senior management and Board Level in the UK, USA and UAE.

Over the span of his successful career, Jon has held various high-level positions in industry leading companies including Bulmers Cider, Nobel Foods, GU Desserts and more recently Jon held the position of Managing Director of WOW HYDRATE Limited.

Jon's experienced a series of career milestones including the successful launch of the UK brand, The Happy Egg Co and the launch of WOW Hydrate across the UK and EU which involved securing a high number of multinational grocery retailers and sports outlets as stockists for the business.

Ross Lazaroo-Hood has over 20 years in the global insurance market & being Class underwriter at one of the main Lloyd’s of London’s syndicates, he then founded Landmark Underwriting & Landmark Holding Group, an insurance intermediary group in 2016 & successfully exited in 2024.

From being Class underwriter at one of the main Lloyd’s of London’s syndicates, he is also the founded Landmark Underwriting & Landmark Holding Group, an insurance intermediary group in 2016 & successfully exited in 2024. In 2021 he co-founded Clearer Group, a growing beverage group.

Working with his family investment office he is developing his own investment portfolio from around the world to help them succeed & help build their dream to become the next success story.

He was delighted to be granted Freedom of the City London in 2021. Ross invests his own time into the RUSA Foundation charity that he co-founded to provide a better future to those in grass roots competing sports and underprivileged families and disadvantaged children. Ross is grateful to be able to give something back through his various roles. He enjoys helping to build the careers of others, developing relationships with internal and external clients, seeing all the rewards that are generated with people working together to embrace their aspirations.

Paulo Andrez is an international expert in entrepreneurship and innovation, scale up, and risk mitigation and a bestselling author of Zero Risk Startup, published by Forbes Books. Paulo is also a prolific angel investor with an active portfolio including startup and scale up companies.
